Why Choose RCLA?

At the base of the east foothills in San José sits the beautiful campus of the Roberto Cruz Leadership Academy (RCLA).  RCLA offers students a positive learning experience in a welcoming, attractive setting. Our campus features two state-of-the-art educational buildings and delightful outdoor spaces. Our current students and families  like to think of it as home away from home.

Science Labs and MORE!

Our rigorous academic curriculum has been accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). RCLA’s bright and airy classrooms are equipped with instructional technology, science laboratories, attractive learning spaces, inviting atriums, and The Abby Sobrato Center for College Success.  We offer dynamic spaces for our students and community to recreate and rest; like a rose garden, spacious green lawns, a playground and numerous athletic fields and training facilities.

Community Leaders & Socially Conscious Educators

The mission of the Roberto Cruz Leadership Academy (RCLA) is to empower students to become community leaders and socially conscious educators. RCLA implements a rigorous Teacher Academy that integrates technology, real-world projects, community values, bi-literacy, and personalized learning.

Agents of Education & Social Justice

Through our focus on developing leaders, RCLA graduates students prepared to succeed in a university setting and to serve the needs of diverse communities. RCLA aims to educate students through college preparatory courses that enable academic literacy, critical thinking, effective communication and independent problem solving. Our RCLA students are agents of education and social justice with a commitment to community.

A Commitment to Be of Service

Our stunning campus is open to students, families and our community-- as a resource and a space for serenity and support. Bike parking, a playground and fragrant rose garden welcome one and all.

RCLA’s school culture empowers students, parents, and school staff to utilize their cultural, linguistic, and personal strengths for service.  To promote our tuition-free high school’s college-going culture, RCLA organizes college trips to Southern California, Northern California, and the East Coast. We at RCLA believe in expanding students’ horizons and introducing a variety of college and university choices.

Dr. B. Roberto Cruz’s Living Legacy

Named after our founder, the Roberto Cruz Leadership Academy first opened its doors in 2015.  Dr. Cruz’s name appears on and in buildings around California and our nation and his legacy lives on in our students, faculty, and staff of The Foundation for Hispanic Education schools.

RCLA alumni serve society as teachers, entrepreneurs, computer scientists and public servants.  They are educators and civic leaders who carry that sense of familia and mission to the parts of the world they inhabit.
