Serving the East San Jose community for over 30 years, The Foundation for Hispanic Education currently operates the Center for Latino Education and Innovation and three free public high schools -- Latino College Preparatory Academy(LCPA),  Luis Valdez Leadership Academy(LVLA) and Roberto Cruz Leadership Academy(RCLA).

Our Beautiful Campus 

Our modern campus at the base of the east foothills of San Jose is inviting, impressive (at more than 10 acres) and safe. Innovative and energy-efficient, our two state-of-the-art educational buildings have college-level science labs, bright & airy learning spaces, flexible seating and intuitive classrooms. 

Roberto Cruz Leadership Academy(RCLA) and Latino College Preparatory Academy(LCPA) offer students a positive learning experience in a safe, attractive mukti-acre setting.  Our campus features two state-of-the-art educational buildings and delightful outdoor spaces.

Our classrooms are equipped with instructional technology, science laboratories, attractive learning spaces, light-filled atriums, Abby Sobrato Center for College Success, recreation and rest areas, and bright and airy offices. 

The Foundation for HIspanic Education and students on campus

College and career readiness is foundational for our students’ academic experience. The Abby Sobrato Center for College Success (ASCCS) provides our students with support for:

  • College Exploration (Research, in & out of state college visits, Alumni Panels and more)

  • Career Exploration (Research, Mentoring, Work-site Field Trips)

  • College Application Assistance 

  • Financial Aid Application Assistance 

  • Tutoring 

Annually, the ASCCS awards the Abby Sobrato Scholarship to deserving graduates to help with their college expenses.  The Abby Sobrato Center for College Success is a constant college and career readiness resource for our students.  It is located on the 2nd floor of Sobrato West in a beautiful 2,500 square foot learning space with a view. 

Home Away from Home

Outdoor spaces on our 10.5 acre campus include zones for recreation and for relaxing --  including athletic fields, training centers, a rose garden, picnic area, bike storage, a playground and ample outside seating. Coming soon -- our multi-purpose building with space for 400+ at assemblies, fundraisers, orientation and meals.

Learning & Leadership

TFHE’s three public high schools offer learning and leadership experiences outside of the classroom.  We invite 9th-12th grade students to join our vibrant academic learning environments and experience incredible personal growth with our exciting campus clubs and leadership opportunities:  

  • Associated Student Body/Student Government 

  • Clubs: Interscholastic Flag Football, MESA/Robotics, Adventurers, GSA, Joven Noble, Journalism, Video Gaming, Philosophy/Debate, Art, and Boxing

The Foundation for Hispanic Education(TFHE) envisions a world in which all English Language Learning high school students have the opportunity to learn in an environment that addresses their educational needs, supports cultural awareness, emphasizes their abilities, and provides a path to success.
