Vaccination Eligibility in Santa Clara County

Dear Families,

We look forward to celebrating the end of another school year and are excitedly preparing for year-end events. As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, these events may look very different from past events, but we are currently planning for some of these events to occur in-person with potential limits on capacity and other safety precautions. Additional information about these events will be forthcoming.

In the meantime, per the Santa Clara County Department of Public Health, we encourage all eligible students and family members to obtain their COVID-19 vaccinations now to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission at all end-of-the-school-year events and related gatherings. All individuals who are 16 years of age or older and who live, work, or attend school in Santa Clara County are currently eligible to be vaccinated at all vaccination clinics in the County.

Individuals who are 16 or 17 years old must have the consent of their parent, legal guardian, or another individual who has the legal right to make healthcare decisions for them. Individuals are not considered fully vaccinated until two weeks after completing their COVID-19 vaccination series (i.e., two weeks after receiving the second dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine or two weeks after receiving the single dose of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine). On our website and here, you will find information on vaccinations for minors.

To schedule a vaccination appointment or obtain more information on COVID-19 vaccinations, please visit the County of Santa Clara’s website at www.sccfreevax.org. Vaccine appointments are now widely available, so we encourage anyone who is eligible to make their vaccine appointment now.

Sincerely,

The Foundation for Hispanic Education Team
